Roger Waters announces solo album’s title; joins Nick Mason at London event promoting Pink Floyd exhibit

Dave J Hogan/Getty ImagesFormer Pink Floyd singer/bassist Roger Waters has revealed the name of his long-awaited new solo album, Is This the Life We Really Want? Waters has posted a brief video on his official Facebook page and YouTube channel announcing the title of the record and reporting that it will be “coming soon.”

The clip also features a musical snippet apparently from one of the album’s new songs. The melodic, melancholy-sounding tune includes what sounds like clips of various vintage British radio news reports.

In other news, Waters reunited with founding Pink Floyd drummer Nick Mason on Thursday at London’s Mayfair Hotel at a special event celebrating the upcoming Floyd-themed exhibition “Their Mortal Remains,” which opens May 13 at the Victoria & Albert Museum. The exhibit, which will run through October 1, coincides with the 50th anniversary of the release of Pink Floyd’s first recordings. The display boasts more than 350 artifacts from the group and its members, including rare photos and videos, stage sets, instruments and much more.

TeamRock.com reports that among the interesting items featured in the exhibition is a cane that Waters was punished with by the headmaster of the high school he attended and who served as the basis for a character in The Wall.

During the Q&A event, Waters and Mason were asked whether a reunited Pink Floyd might ever play the U.K.’s famed Glastonbury Festival. Mason said, “It’d be fun to do it. But I don’t think it’s very likely,” while Waters dismissed the question about a Floyd reunion, saying, “It’s so dull.”

Waters also said that he would consider staging a performance of The Wall at the U.S.-Mexico border in protest of President Trump‘s plan to build a wall there.
